Who we are…
Established in 1964, Westland has grown to become the tenth largest municipality in Michigan, and is an excellent community in which to live, work, raise a family, shop, and dine. These characteristics, coupled with our welcoming, friendly atmosphere, make us An All American City – and quite possibly the perfect setting for your next film production.

 Westland is a suburban community located 20 miles west of metropolitan Detroit and is just seven miles from Detroit Metro Airport. Our convenient location offers easy access to Michigan’s southeastern expressway system, including I-275 to the west and I-96 to the north.

The City of Westland is, to borrow the phrase, “film friendly.” Your project is important to us, and will work with you to not only understand the needs of your film production, but also accommodate them. Nope – you won’t have to worry about high mountains, tall palm trees, or pesky sand dunes getting in the way of your shooting. Thankfully, we took care of that for you. But what you will find here in Westland is quite an eclectic mix of locales that set us apart from other municipalities within Metropolitan Detroit.
